ROYAL MILITARY POLICE ASSOCIATION
Are you a member?
You may well have forgotten, but you undoubtedly joined the Association during your initial training.Hence, I suspect, that all members of the Branch, serving or retired, reading this article are members of RMPA and therefore eligible to attend our events.
What does the Association do?
The Association is charged with:-
Maintaining contact between past and present members of RMP and providing them with social gatherings.
Fostering Esprite de Corps, comradeship and welfare of the RMP whilst preserving its ethos and traditions. This includes maintaining close relationships with the next of kin and families of those we lose in combat.
Is this an old person's sport?
Certainly not! Many serving and retired JNCOs attend these events and most will say subsequently how surprised they are at how welcome they are made and how much they enjoyed the day. That is not to say that those Military Police pensioners who are not yet actively involved in the Association will not equally enjoy taking part in RMPA events.
How are we doing?
Most of our events attract about 100 members but numbers have diminished over the years and if the Association is to continue to thrive, younger members of RMP will have to fill the void. Our events are only successful when members becomes actively involved.
To achieve our objectives, the Regimental Secretary, the National Events Co-ordinator and our Association Branches conduct a number of events throughout the course of the year which all members of the RMPA (both serving and retired) are eligible to attend. dates of RMPA functions can be found in the RMP & RMPA Calendar of Events in the Journal:-
